Learn. Nourish. Live.
The Leadership Greater Rochester Class of 2013 is partnering with Channel One to educate members of our community about healthy eating. To do this, we built The Kitchen at Channel One.
The Kitchen at Channel One will offer:
- Community-based hands-on cooking and healthy eating classes.
- A variety of life skill seminars, such as financial management and workforce preparation.
The Kitchen is modeled after similar successful initiatives established in both Winona and Duluth, MN.
The goal of The Kitchen at Channel One is to create a healthier community by providing sustaining education, skills and local resources to empower families to make smart nutritional choices. Tackling this feat requires a unique approach to prevention of chronic disease by moving upstream to curtail disease before it starts.
Your investment in this sound, research-based approach will save our community health care dollars, reduce chronic illnesses, and allow us to say ‘not here’ when faced with the sobering fact that this generation of children may be the first to have a shorter life-expectancy than their parents. Leadership Greater Rochester and Channel One Regional Food Bank welcome partnerships to ensure that The Kitchen can meet the health and well-being needs of the community.
