Channel One to participate in Give to the Max Day on November 17

Channel One Regional Food Bank and our partners at Feeding America are not affiliated with Feeding our Future. We have never partnered with nor granted funds to the nonprofit organization, nor have we partnered with the local business, Brava Restaurant & Cafe.
Channel One Regional Food Bank and Rochester Public Schools (RPS) are partnering to help students attain consistent access to healthy food for the whole family. RPS and Channel One plan to focus their joint efforts on the schools and student populations that have the highest need and lack access to other community food resources.
Gifts to Channel One Regional Food Bank this month have twice the impact. Think Bank is matching gifts dollar-to-dollar up to $35,000 through August 15th.
Channel One recently received a $75,000 grant from Mayo Clinic to support Channel One’s mission of strengthening food access and building healthy communities. This gift is also intended to help Olmsted County residents facing financial stress, a leading local community health priority.
“Scan Out Hunger” was a campaign partnership between Hy-Vee, Inc. and Feeding America that took place across the supermarket chain’s eight-state region from October to December, 2021. The campaign raised enough funds to provide over five million meals to Feeding America food banks in Hy-Vee’s region.
Channel One is one of this years' grant recipients. 74 is double the number of recipients from last round and adds more projects focused on underserved communities.
“Support from donors is even more essential right now as the communities and programs throughout our region face additional challenges,” Virginia continued, “It’s not only food costs that are on the rise, but also the cost of transportation, housing, energy and heat, health care and other barriers to food access that our clients may face.”
Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, CEO, Feeding America will be visiting Rochester to recognize Channel One Regional Food Bank and Second Harvest Heartland. The two food banks have received a $200,000 boundless collaboration grant from Feeding America. The funds will be used to expand Second Harvest’s prepared meals program, Minnesota Central Kitchen, to Rochester.
Effective Wednesday, August 4, Channel One will again require all staff, volunteers and shoppers to wear a mask. While this may feel like a “step back”, it is our hope that this change is temporary, and that once the transmission of COVID-19 and/or the Delta variant are curbed and the community spread slowed, we will once again be able to provide services unmasked.
