This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for Channel One Regional Food Bank. It will notify you of the following:

  1. What personally identifiable information is collected from you, how it is used and with whom it may be shared.

  4. How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

Channel One only has access to the information that you voluntarily share with us (via e-mail or other direct contact). If you initiate contact with us, we may use your information on file to respond to you regarding the request or reason you contacted us. If requested, we will not share your information with any third-party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g. to ship an order.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy.

Your Access to and Control Over Information

You may opt out of any future contact from us at any time. You can e-mail us or call (507) 287-2350 to do the following:

  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you (except where prohibited by law).
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data.

Security

We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information to Channel One, your information is protected both online and offline.

Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this online by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. We do not keep credit card data after a transaction has been processed.

Donor Privacy Information

Channel One Regional Food Bank and Food Shelf respects the privacy of its donors and has put in place this Donor Privacy Policy to honor donors’ rights.

Channel One collects and uses personal information, such as name, address, phone number and email address when a donor voluntarily provides it to us.

In addition, Channel One keeps a record of each donor’s giving history. This information is kept on file for IRS purposes and is also used by the Development Department to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make more accurate budget projections. All personal information is kept in a secure database with limited employee access.

Channel One may share your personally identifiable information, as well as a record of donations or contact with us, with third-party marketing service partners in order to create and deliver advertising tailored to your interests. Program Disclosures for Clients and Shoppers

Channel One Food Bank respects client privacy and will ensure that personal client information remains private. Only a restricted number of staff and volunteers can log in to the client information system. Each staff member has been trained and has signed an agreement to keep client and shopper information private.

We may use shoppers’ personal information for a variety of reasons–

  • To Improve Our Programs: We may use personal information to improve our programs or activities. For example, staff may review data on the quality of services that our shoppers receive.
  • To Do Research: We may use personal information for research and analysis. Any reports produced with shopper data will not identify individual information. Our staff and volunteers will only share information with qualified persons outside of Channel One or our agencies who agree (in writing) to maintain the confidentiality of the information.
  • To Connect You with Other Programs: At a client or shoppers’ request, we may share personal information to determine a clients’ eligibility for other benefits or programs.
  • To Report Harm or Emergency: We may be required to share personal information to law enforcement in certain cases. For example, if a shopper or client causes harm to a member of our staff, another client, or if they damage our property. We may also share personal information in case of a threat to the public, such as a terrorist attack or natural disaster.

Data Privacy Notice/Tennessen Warning

You have rights under the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act. This Act protects your privacy. We are asking for information so we can: tell you apart from other persons with a similar name and decide how to serve you best.

Generally, you are not required to give us the information.  However, without it, we can’t report accurate statistics which affects funding. The law allows us to share your information (the number of children, adults, and seniors in your household and the number of pounds of food received) with staff from the Department of Human Services, Hunger Solutions Minnesota, Foundations for Essential Needs, and your regional food bank.

You also have the right to copies of information we have about you. If you do not understand the information, it may be explained to you.  If you do not think the information is accurate or complete, please correct it with the food shelf staff.

USDA Non-Discrimination Statement

In accordance with federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, this institution is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity.

To file a program discrimination complaint, a Complainant should complete a Form AD-3027, USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form which can be obtained online at: https://www.usda.gov/sites/default/files/documents/ad-3027.pdf, from any USDA office, by calling (866) 632-9992, or by writing a letter addressed to USDA. The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
