Faribault County, MN – March 12, 2021

On Saturday, March 20th, Channel One Regional Food Bank will be bringing boxes of free food to the Faribault County Fairgrounds in Blue Earth, Minnesota for a “Truck to Trunk” event. These “Farmers to Families” food boxes will be available to anyone in need and are provided by Channel One and the United States Department of Agriculture to address the increased rate of food insecurity due to the pandemic.

The food boxes contain milk, cheese and yogurt; cooked, refrigerated meat; and fresh fruit and vegetables. Participants in this event do not even have to get out of their cars for access to the healthy food options. Volunteers will take boxes of food directly from the Channel One truck and place it in the trunk or back seat of participants’ vehicles.

“We know that many in Faribault County are lacking access to nutritious food right now. For this ‘Truck to Trunk’ event, we will be bringing food for double the amount of families that we typically serve. The free boxes of food will be available for everyone to have access to the fresh and wholesome food they need,” stated Jennifer Belisle, Programs and Agency Services Director at Channel One.

Channel One is hosting the “Truck to Trunk” event in place of its mobile pantries held in Bricelyn and Winnebago on the 3rd Saturday of each month. No registration or information is required to participate– all are welcome to attend!

Anyone interested in volunteering at the event, or who would like more information about food access in Faribault County, are encouraged to contact Channel One’s Agency Services Coordinator, Joellen, at 507-424-1713 or [email protected]
